Designed by Rino Maturi for MIMO in Italy, the 'Nuvolone' — Italian for "big cloud" — takes its name from the soft, billowing silhouette of its five modular seating elements. A hallmark of the era's space-age modernism, the design pairs generous, cloud-like proportions with the clean geometry that defined Italian seating of the period.
This example is dated late 70's and has been newly reupholstered in a fresh apple green velvet, updating the original palette while preserving the sofa's sculptural, room-filling presence. As a modular set, the pieces can be rearranged to suit the room — true to the flexibility that defined 1970s Italian modular design.
