ico Magistretti designed the Maralunga for Cassina in 1973, and it went on to win the Compasso d'Oro — Italy's highest industrial design honor — for a reason simple enough to feel obvious in hindsight: the headrest folds down at the pull of a strap, letting the silhouette shift from an upright lounge chair to a low, reclined one without a single visible mechanism. It's engineering disguised as ease.
This example carries that late-70s design forward in a plush woven chenille, the fabric's soft depth catching light differently across the folds of the frame.
